It's October, and that means Halloween is coming. This is a great time of year in daycare, since the programming pretty much takes care of itself. That means you need some craft ideas for the season. I have several that I use, and I'm going to start here with one of the most popular. This is a nice, short craft, and works for toddlers as well as the older kids.
Don't forget to check out our other Halloween crafts when they're posted in the next few days.
Styrofoam Ghosts
Required Materials
- A styrofoam cup for each child
- A black marker
- An oven
Steps
- Ask the children to draw a face on a Styrofoam cup a black marker.
- Punch a small hole in the bottom if you want to use your ghosts as a mobile afterwards.
- Place the cups on a cookie sheet and put in a preheated 350 degree oven.
- Let them melt, but watch closely!!! This will take about 5 minutes, depending on how much you want them to shrink.
That's it! 4 easy steps, and each kid has their own little ghost. It also makes a great mobile for the classroom, or a larger project. Next time, we'll have a set of crafts to make a gross Haunted House, super popular with the kids.
