Where Daycare Professionals and Ideas Come Together

Christmas presents

I'm trying to decide what to get my son for Christmas - he'll be 18.5 months by then, and I want things that he'll use for a while and not get bored with immediately. I'd also like things that will teach him something. Suggestions? What are you getting your kids?

Since birthday and Christmas is a week apart here are some of things he will be getting (not sure when)

Little People - Castle, Circus
Train Table (great deal used- which can double as a craft table, lego table as he grows) with some trains - geotrax and some wooden)
Bath toys
Bounce and go inch worm
Art Easel with supplies (paint, brushes, dry erase markers from crayola, paper)
Big beads that he can use for threading

Since I have them from work it's not a gift but he LOVES my felt board and pieces..you can get them cheap now from the Bargain Store (not sure if you have that) for around 5 - 6.00 and have a variety of themes.

We bought dd an art easel for her 2nd birthday. She's four now and still LOVES it! I highly recommend getting one. Little People sets are great as well. Also the bigger style lego sets would be fun. My son is 2 and we're getting him a tent/ball pit and we're sure he'll love it!

My mother gave my daughter an art easel for her 2nd birthday. It was a fantastic idea and she still loves it as much now as she did then.
We will be getting our daughter the Little People Farm as she is in love with animals, especially cows, pigs and sheep. I am looking for a trampoline for inside to release some energy on those days it's too cold/stormy to go outside. She will also get lots of books and any art supplies she is running low on.

Ball tents are an awesome idea! My little guy LOVES his!

When your little one was young if you bought a play yard you can buy just the bags of balls and put them in the ball yard and use that as you ball pit! You can even check used kids store or your local kijiji or craigs list for balls/ball pits.

My son loves his LP Farm and it's worth buying the extra animals! Keep your eyes on sales at Toys R Us or markdowns at the box stores as well. Sometimes Costco has LP sets with extra add ons too!

I have a frugal idea for a trampoline but I'll post that in a new thread to share the knowledge. So check it out

We recently received the Little Peoples garage and both our son and daughter love it!!

Valerie also loves her easel.

The only thing that we are sure to get her is books. SHe's already a book worm at 2 lol Probably will get her some puzzle more advance then what she got (some without red knob).

I love the red knobs! Makes them easier to pick up off the floor. But hurt when you step on one!

You see, I found that those are too easy for her now. She's been doing them since she was like 12 months. I want to give her some challenge. I want those with like 10-12 pieces, but that are shapes like regular puzzle, in a wooden frame (Not even sure that i'm clear on this lol) Something like this http://www.toysrus.ca/product/prodpop.jsp?isProdPop=true&productId=2690795&totCount=0&enhView=main

We have this LeapFrog Magnet Puzzle and it's awesome! The pieces don't fall out!!!! LOVE IT!

that's a very neat puzzle..now to make him sit and do one that's the challenge for me!

We're now pretty much finished our Christmas shopping for RJ, thanks to a trip to the city yesterday. We got him:
* Little People race track
* Little People Fire Truck
* Ming Ming This is Serious (wonderpets toy that dances and sings)
* Some Thomas the Tank Engine books (still need to get him a few more books)
* A shopping cart ($4!!!)
* Little matchbox cars to fill his stockign with (Bogo - .60 each)
* Three wonderpets dvds with beanies of the pets ($14 each - dvd alone is $13)

We still need to get him his trampoline, some more books, some new sippy cups and the new Four Square dvd.

My mom's giving him an art easel and a toddler bed - I'm sure she's getting him a ton of other toys too.

Kaden loves his shopping cart (a good deal like yours after summer sale!)

Mia loves her too. Great for tidy up time, she zooms all over the main floor shopping for toys on the floor.

We got his trampoline last night at Walmart - $37, not too bad! I'm tempted to give it to him now, though, since he's started jumping up and down, even on the floor.

That's why I haven't gone to buy one for K yet...I'm afraid I'd give it to him now...or someone else might buy it

lol so understand about the trampoline. we are also very tempted to give it to her right now lol
