My son is almost 16 months and some days it feels like I'm feeding him the same things day after day. It's not that he's a picky eater - far from it, he eats pretty much everything I do - but he refuses to let me feed him and wants to do it himself. So finding pieces big enough for him to pick up can be difficult. I'd love some new suggestions, particularly any that involve his favourites, green veggies.

There are lots of casserole ideas that can be modified to add variety. Lots of pasta shapes and sizes. Add different cream soups and or veggies.
I do GORP for Kaden once in a while..it's basically a once around the kitchen. Whatever I have goes in it
Broken up crackers (fishy crackers, saltines etc.)
broken up granola bars
Cereal
Nuts (if you do that..I don't yet)
mini cookies
chocolate chips
mini marshmallows (yes some of it is a treat but with GORP you can decide how much you want to add)

~ Cereal Bars
~ Veggies and dip (hummus will add extra nutrition value) I do have to steam most of his veg first and cool them he refused raw veg unless it's cucumber)
~ If you have a slippery fruit (think banana) you can crush cereal (i.e cheerios) and coat the fruit so it's not slippery for them (when Kaden was younger I pureed the cereal so it was super fine and he wouldn't choke)
GORP sounds like my "Things around a Plate" my favourite childhood lunch. Sigh, the memories.
Cereal Bars are a great idea. My son loves them! But they are pretty messy.
I find the no name versus to be a bit messier but the name brand nutrigrain bars I've had no problems with...usually he isn't even sticky...I will give those to him when we are out and he looks like he didn't eat (which rarely happens!)
I agree, the brand name ones are much less messy. Mia can eat one in the car on the way to daycare bright and early and still arrive squeaky clean.
I've noticed a significant difference in the fat and salt content of the Nutrigrain vs. store brand - with the no names actually having less of both. Wonder if that's why the Nutrigrain stay together better?
it probably is lol
Valerie loves her cracker and cheese, fish cracker (pizza one and extra cheese on). She will even eat things like cauliflower raw if I put some dressing on the side. She loves to dip. Cheese is also always a hit.
What is it with toddlers and dipping? Mia loves dip, you name it, she'll try it if she can dip it in ketchup, dressing, syrup.....
Kaden is the same!
We seem to need "dip" with EVERYTHING! Luckily some of them are healthy (hummus, applesauce)
sigh
At least he calls it "dip", Mia calls it "meep meep".
it's cute though ...but i admit i love Mia and Kaden asks for her ALL the time now!
Mia asks if Kaden is coming to "kids house".
Kids house?
daycare you mean?
She calls my work "kids house". I think she thinks they live there.
LMFAO lives there..that's great! Well hopefully we can make it there for halloween!!
