Tossing items in toilet

So far my toddler has tossed my brush, lotion and a couple dog toys in the toilet - and I suspect more will come. Distraction doesn't seem to work - he's fixated on it. Any tips on discouraging this behaviour? So far he hasn't figured out how to flush, and I'm not looking forward to the plumber's bill when he does...

Sigh...time and they will stop.

I had to for the longest time keep the bathroom door shut after he flushed a toothpaste tube down the toilet and flushed. It got stuck and a plumber had to remove the entire toilet...2 hours later it was gone.

All children are fixated on water and especially moving water.

I found with Kaden if I were to give him time during the day to play in the water (sitting on the counter while he/I brushed our teeth and he would play with the running water for a few minutes) it seemed to help.

You can also buy toilet locks to put on the toilet so he can't get into it.

Good luck! Hopefully you don't need to ever call a plumber like we did!

I was going to suggest the locks too....just until that phase ends
We had one kid make Spiderman have a "bath".....his bath ended up plugging the toilet so that my plumber FH needed to come tear it up and replace it, lol.

I'd recommend the locks as well. My youngest plays with the tap water while I'm in the bathroom (standing on a stool). He also likes to flush the toilet when I'm down. Whatever makes him happy, I guess.

We could close the washroom door as the cats litter is in there. Luckily for us, Valerie as never been fascinate buy the inside of the toilet, but more to climb on it lol that was our problem.
