Where Daycare Professionals and Ideas Come Together

Waking up in the morning

My son loves to sleep in - always did, even as a baby. It's rare he's awake by himself before 8 a.m. Only problem is, we need to leave the house by 8:10 a.m. to get him to the DCP's before I have to be at work.

Is there any way to train him to wake up earlier? Anyone else have this problem? He's already in bed between 7:30-8 p.m. at night, so I don't think I can move his bedtime back any further - I'd like to actually see him too!

There is no way my daughter will ever wake herself up for daycare in the AM. We simply leave too early. That being said, she has slowly gotten herself used to being woken so early and is in a much better mood at 6am then she used to be! Wish I had some better advice.

Nope sorry!
My kid is up everyday between 645 and 700 am!! Even on the weekends! Can't a mom get a break?!!!

DD love's to sleep too. What I do, like 30 min before actually needing her to be up, I just open her door. That way, she'll hear the noise in the house (shower, dryer etc) and she gets up by herself.

Kappi, does she seem in a better mood if allowed to wake upon her own? I was thinking of getting DH to open the door on his way out in the AM so when I get up 10-15 minutes later she can hear me and wake up on her own, instead of me going in and physically waking her.

I do what Kappi does when ds naps longer then he should. If I wake him it takes him a good 20 mins to let go of me.....since he's still half asleep. Hearing the noises of the house helps him wake up on his own faster, and he's in a much better mood.

It did big time. After like 15 minutes, she calls me ("maman, un colle"--which means Mommy a hug lol) Last year, I was letting her sleep til 7:45am, as I've only had to get to work for 8:45. She was always in a good mood. I never had a problem. This year, I've had to start at 8:00, so that means that I have to wake her up at 7am. That was no fun. She was telling me "NON dodo"

Hmm, maybe I'll try that, but he's a very sound sleeper - I can vacuum and have the dogs go crazy and he'll sleep through it. Still, it's worth a shot!
