Moving to the toddler bed - tips?

Any tips on transitioning to a toddler bed? It’s time – Robbie’s climbing out of his crib – and we’re in the middle of painting his room and transforming it into his big boy room. I’m wondering if we should just take the crib out, or if it’s better to set both bed and crib up?

I'd suggest taking the crib out. We had both in Mia's room and it gave her an excuse to go back to her crib (and us an excuse when we were exhausted at 3am and she still wasn't sleeping in her bed). If I had the chance to do it all over, I'd take the crib out cold turkey. Let him be part of picking his new bed, build up some excitement. Good luck, we're still struggling with this. Mia finds it really hard to sleep well without being confined.

Nothing to add since we aren't there *knocks wood* but wishing you lots of luck!

I would take the crib out, cold turkey! (but as I saw in your other post, it's working great ).

For us, we went from the crib to a twin mattress, and it worked great with Valerie. We never had a problem, and she's been sleeping throught the night ever since (she was 10 months). We found out that our little needed a bigger place too move lol

Be prepared to find your son sleeping in places other then the bed! We found dd in the closet and under the bed quite often! But they eventually get it.

Mia is in her new bed as I type. She was timid at first, but loved having all her stuffed animal friends in the bed with her. It's a queen, so big enough for everyone!

wow! a queen... we went with a twin lol
