We have a child who has a number of words he likes to shout out when he's upset. Words the other children know are inappropriate. Our Behaviour Management consultant told us to ignore these words, as the child is looking for a reaction. Parents who hear them are upset that staff seem to be ignoring the situation and worry their children will start using these words. How do you deal with bad words at daycare?

We will give time outs and stuff. We don't allow kids to tell the other to Shut Up and stuff, and there's one who's said far worse.....At times it can be ignored but that's really hard when it's infront of other kids, and they see you not doing anything about it, therefor think it's ok....
BTW, you have a behaviour maanagement consultant?!
Yeah, they are great. It's a program run my the Region. You refer a child or a room in your centre. They come and observe and offer tips and suggestions.
