Anyone run into problems working in daycare while Pregnant? I am lucky enough that I do not have to change diapers etc so no heavy lifting. I know some centres that have purchased new change areas with stairs to help pregnant employees.
If there was a breakout of chicken pox or fifths disease to name a few, would your centre be able to move you to a new room or building or would you have to take time off?
How did you let your kids know about the pregnancy? How did you answer some of the sensitive questions that tend to come up? I remember with my first pregnancy two 4 year olds got into an argument about how baby's "get out". One swore up and down a bird brought him and another knew the "natural way out" and terrified the other kids with all the gory details. He had apparently been at his sisters home birth.

Can't speak from experience myself, but when my coworker got pregnant almost 2 years ago, we waited until she was starting to show and then we all talked to the kids in a group about it. That she had a baby in her belly, and it was going to grow and when it got big enough she was going to go the hospital and it was going to come out (How? "The doctors will help get it out of her belly" lol.) There were certain things she couldn't do for cleaning, cuz of chemicals, and things like changing, but we just took over more of that and kinda switched a few tasks around or whatever. IF anything had happened - chicken pox, etc, she would have had to take time off, as there's only one building. I suppose we could have switched, she could have done the AS group, but one of the boys was very behavioural and basically she wasn't allowed with him in any case alone while pg, because he could get very violent and we were worried he might punch/kick/headbut somewhere dangerous.
