I was wondering how many other organizations use schools as part of their program. I'm also curious to know that if you are, how supportive is the school towards your centre?

I worked in strictly school settings for 6 years prior to moving to my current centre and have run the spectrum on school support. The administration has always been supportive. I think they see the value in the programs and the added income that our rent brought the school. However, it was the classroom teachers that were very anti-daycare. They did not like sharing their space. Often the JK/SK teachers were the most supportive as we would purchase toys and drama centre items that they could use as well. This really helped the relationship. Our older kids also liked to help them in their room prep, could cut things out for them or help them with odd jobs.
...speaking of schools, I just lost one of my top ECE's to the school boards full day kindergarten program.
A lot of daycares are going to take a hit losing quality staff to the school board. Great wages, benefits and summers off are hard to give up. So sad.
