i need some help, have a degree in early childhood and have worked for years with preschoolers, this year i have a new challenge i am working w/18 mo to 3 years esl (i am not bi-lingaual except asl)students in a migrant program i need all the suggestions how do i support and educate these students

i need some help, have a degree in early childhood and have worked for years with preschoolers, this year i have a new challenge i am working w/18 mo to 3 years esl (i am not bi-lingaual except asl)students in a migrant program i need all the suggestions how do i support and educate these students

Wow, what an incredibly rewarding challenge!!!!! I would suggest lots of labels. Label everything when talking, playing, sharing, reading. This age group will be like sponges just soaking up everything you have to offer. Perhaps picture labels all over the room so that all the children will be on even footing when it comes to understand where things go etc. Speak very clearly and make sure to exaggerate your words so they can mimic and copy you easily. Will you have daycare support, translators etc to help when speaking with the family? What will your ratios/room size be like? Take advantage of all the adult help you can get. Children role models will be beneficial too. Good luck!
