We are presently excepting resumes from ECE teachers in consideration for an After School Teacher position we have available at Archie Stouffer Elementary school in Minden.
The position is for 2.5 hrs daily from Monday to Friday (3:15-5:45). There would also be full time hours on school PA Days, March Break, Christmas Break, and possibly with our school age summer camp in July and August.

Yesterday marked the 10th annual ECE Appreciation Day. How were you shown appreciation for the amazing work you do? Does your Board of Directors/centre owner acknowledge this day? Does the supervisor do something special? Do parents participate?
I am currently on sick leave after eye surgery, so my centre has no supervisor. I really wanted to go in yesterday and surprise them, but am still unable to drive. My son as an assessment at the centre tomorrow so I plan to bring bouquets to each staff member and a thank you card for a job well done.
Are your children allowed to attend daycare at your centre? Are their additional rules/conditions imposed on them? Are you eligible for a discount, if so, how much?
Anyone run into problems working in daycare while Pregnant? I am lucky enough that I do not have to change diapers etc so no heavy lifting. I know some centres that have purchased new change areas with stairs to help pregnant employees.
If there was a breakout of chicken pox or fifths disease to name a few, would your centre be able to move you to a new room or building or would you have to take time off?
How did you let your kids know about the pregnancy? How did you answer some of the sensitive questions that tend to come up?
When do you hold your staff meetings? we try and hold ours during sleep time so that no one has to come back to the centre after their shift or have an extra long day. Sometimes this is difficult if there are kids that do not sleep.
How often do you hold meetings? Are all staff involved or are meetings divided amongst position? I know our ECE's have more team meetings that our cleaning/cooking staff are not involved in.
Does your place of employment require yearly professional development? Is there a minimum number of workshops that must be taken? Does the company pay the bill?
After attending an excellent workshop on Teaching, Leading and Coaching, I wonder what type of leader are you?
Is it your way or the highway?
Do you run a democracy?
Are you a hands-off, laissez-faire, type leader?
or something in between?
Do you switch styles based on situations?
